SLIPKNOT Singer: Illegal Music Downloading Spoils The Surprise

SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor believes that Internet music downloading has taken away some of the excitement associated with the experience of buying new albums in the stores, with many of the songs available in unfinished form months before the final product reaches the record shop shelves. "It just spoils the surprise," Taylor told Kerrang! magazine. "It used to be that you'd wait for an album to come out, you'd get so fucking excited. And then the day comes and you go and you fucking buy it. Now there's songs we haven't fucking recorded yet. They're on the Internet, right now. They've plugged into our brains and sucked them out. I think it ruins the surprise, the reaction of hearing something for the first time. There's a ritual to it, you know? You get it, look through the booklet, read the lyrics and you sit and listen to the whole fucking thing all the way through. But the Internet has ruined that whole process, especially when mixes are leaked to the Internet that aren't the final mixes. I don't think it's fair. The money thing is, whatever. Let other people bitch about the money thing, because you're talking about pennies. It's a bigger waste that you can never get that first impression back."
